How Do You Submit a Recruiter Letter?
As outlined at the beginning of this chapter, you will write a recruiter letter in 2 circumstances: in response to an advertised job posting, or as a cold call introduction to explore current or future opportunities.
The method for submitting your recruiter letter will depend on the situation. You might:
• Upload your letter along with your resume—either as 1 combined file (letter and resume) or as 2 separate files. Make that decision based on the specific upload requirements for each posting. If given the option, we suggest uploading PDFs rather than Word files to retain formatting integrity.
Once you have uploaded your documents, they will need to pass through keyword-based Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS). That is what makes it so imperative to follow the firm’s instructions. If your documents don’t pass the technology scan, they will never be seen by a human.
• Email your letter along with your resume. Paste your letter as an e-note in the body of the email message. Then, attach your resume as a PDF or Word document. Just as when you’re uploading, our recommendation is to use PDF files whenever possible to retain formatting integrity. .
